Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

This is supposed to be a teal galaxy.  I was really proud of it, unitl my Mom asked if it was supposed to be inspired by the movie Frozen!?!  What?  Clearly those are stars and not snow flakes.  *Sigh*  Well, it is a good base idea for December. . .

Seriously though, I am really proud of how this looks.  I really love pastel galaxies and I think the teal is a solid idea.

The colors are Nina Ultra Pro French White, China Glaze The Outer Edge,  Essie Where's My Chauffeur?, Julep Lissa, Liz, Misti, and Esmerelda. 

TOE isn't as apparent as it is in the pictures.  It really is a cool glitter and I like the effect it gives in this manicure and another I wore, but didn't snap picks of. . .

Well, I hope you all like it and don't think too much of Frozen when you see it.

Tape and Dots!

What do you call this design?  Anybody?  I really have no idea.  The original nail artist, I Feel Polished, used coral and turquoise colors and said it was inspired by Native American jewelry.  I changed up the colors, and now I don't know what it reminds me of. . .

What I did want and did was try and combine Ovarian and Breast cancer colors.  My Aunt passed away from Ovarian cancer last year and my Nana overcame Breast cancer in 1997 (I think).  They are both a part of me and both causes I feel passionate about.  So combining them was definitely something I wanted to do this month.

This only took three colors, some tape (okay a lot of tape) and a dotting tool.  The Julep Plie Wand was my tool.  I own the attachments and the striper brush helped with cleaning up the lines.  On my right hand, which you don't see, I used their dotting tool, but I need a finer dot so I used a different tool for the left hand.

The colors were Julep Tin Man (which I am bummed that the holographic wasn't captured in the pictures), Lissa, and Reese.  I love the color of Resse, but it is a pain and a half to work with.  It is chunky and I need to try and thin it out a bit.

Wow!  I really blabbed about this design.  Sorry about that. . .I hope you all like it though.

Don't Let Awareness Fade

Okay, this is what I did last night and I am really rather proud of it!  The design is based on one by Nail Polish Anon.  I saw it on a Pintrest board and had to try it myself.  Luckily I had teal loose glitter in my stash. . .

So I used Julep Lissa, Essie Where's My Chauffer?, and Nina Ultra Pro French White.

To help with cleanup I used a technique that has been going around on the web for a little while.  You use Elmer's Glue around the nail and a little farther up your finger (I tried to find the original person, but there are so many.  Google it if you need clarification).  After I sponged my design and everything dried I just peeled off the glue for clean-up!  This made it so much easier to do this technique and I am much more likely to do gradients in the future!  (In fact I have an idea for later. . .)

I really love this design!  Remember to spread awareness for Ovarian Cancer!  Be aware of the symptoms as there is no screening test for it.  You have to be proactive and aware of your body.

Color Swirl

August has been. . . well. . . August.  There has been a ton of things going on for me and I am hoping September will slow down a bit. . .

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.  I like to have several teal nail art designs for this month to honor my dear Aunt Lori who passed away in May of last year and to help raise awareness of the 5th deadliest cancer for women.  Pink isn't the only cancer women face.

So this is a design is a bit more subdued in the teal.  There are other colors in play here.  I thought a subtle from the vault design might be what I needed to get this started.  (My next design is a bit more in your face)

I used three colors all of which are from Julep; Lissa, Vicki, and Beverly.  These colors are all from their July Poolside Collection.

I used my favorite way to do water marbling for my accent nails.

This color scheme is so summery and fun with some teal pride!  I hope you like and you rock it yourself!
