I Like Pie!, Take Two

The second prompt for The Challenge Your Nail Art Thanksgiving Challenge is Fall Food.  I have done a cherry pie nail art before, but I wanted to do it again.  I really like the concept and I have seen others since and I really wanted to try it again.

I really love how this came out.  Unfortunately the pictures aren't as well lit due to the short fall days.  I came home from work did the nail art and couldn't find direct sunlight to take the pictures in.

So this was done by hand with Julep's thin nail art brush for the Plié Wand.  The colors are OPI Thanks So Muchness, China Glaze Kalahari Kiss, and Desert Sun.  Then I used a Essie Matte About You over the pie crust stripes to give it a more realistic contrast from the "pie filling."

Can't get enough of your. . . Stamping

Today's theme in Sunday Stamping is the 70's and I used the above fabric swatch as inspiration.  I am so proud of how this turned out, however this is an instance where up close, as in a picture, isn't as good.  Still I love this manicure and I hope you do too.

To do this I made decals with my stamp pattern from Cheeky CH44 just as I did in previous posts (there are two links there).  I am getting better with the technique and it is nice to let things sit and really prepare for a manicure.  It also makes doing the non-dominant hand so much easier.

I used China Glaze Life Preserver as my base color.  I then filled in the decal in random ways using Kalahari Kiss, Chocodisiac, and Budding Romance.

Time really is your friend doing this technique.  You need to make things are dry before going to the next phase of the design, just like any manicure.  The nice thing is it isn't on your nails, so you can do other things while you wait.

Well I hope you like this.  I really do and I hope it lasts a little while. . . although I did get some new matte glitters to play with. . . Oh the temptations of being a polish-a-holic!

31 Nail Art Challenge Take Two Day 30: Food

Who doesn't love a good burger and fries?  I certainly do and then if you add onion rings it makes it an even better treat.  I don't really drink soda, but I figured others do, so why not?  If you prefer a veggie or turkey burger, then that is what this is.

I saw this design by Pixiepolish and I thought it was too cute not to pass up, but I also had to add some side dishes.

The list of polishes used is rather long, so I guess I better start now.  OPI Schnapps Out of It, Finger Paints Paper Mâchè, China Glaze Kalahari Kiss, For Audry, Lemon Fizz, Desert Sun, Papaya Punch, Unplugged, Hey Sailor, and Gaga For Green.  Whew!  That is a lot of colors, plus I mixed two colors DS and PM for the highlight on the onion rings and then LF and PP for the shading on the fries.

I did a much simpler version on my right hand with the burgers as accent nails.

This Is Halloween Nail Art Challenge Day One

So I decided to join a nail art challenge.  I have never done one, but I couldn't resist this one.  It is all centered on Halloween.  I thought it might push me to try designing my own things more.  It is sponsered by this lovely Lacquer Dreams.

Day one is Horror Movies. I am not your typical horror movie fan.  I don't really like gore, but I do love a good ghost story.  I had a roommate introduce me to The Changeling in college and I fell in love.  I have come to learn it is not well known, so you can read up on it if you click on the picture.  I used the ball, the medal, and the mediums paper as inspiration as well as the house on fire.  I hope if you have seen the movie you get it.

I am sad help didn't completely fit on my nail.  I thought about fixing it, but I was lazy.  I used all China Glaze polishes.  I used a yellow for the base of the flames, but I put it away and don't remember which one it was.  I also used Jungle Queen, Recycle, Kalahari Kiss, Midnight Kiss, Hey Sailor,  Brownstone, and Riveting.

 I really like how my thumb turned out with the medal.

On my right hand I did flames.  These look oranger and brighter than they are.  I am not really happy with how they turned out.  I hand drew them and I think there has got to be a better way to do flames.  If anyone has any ideas I would love some advice.

Autumn is in the air

I really hate it when my manicure starts to chip.  However, I haven't had it this bad in a long time.  I could just peel of the polish.  I think it was because I forgot to use nail polish remover on my nails before I started polishing.  Oh well, it means I need to do a new manicure.  I wanted fast again and with the bit of crispness in the air I wanted fall colors.  Excuse the short nails, I broke one and so shortened all of them to match.

I used a stamping plate by Bundle Monster, it was BM-201.  The polishes were both from China Glaze.  They are in their newer Safari line Desert Sun and Kalahari Kiss.

 You will have to excuse the pre-clean up pictures.  The sun was going down and I wanted to get these before I lost all the light.  I like the subtle pattern.  It has a kick, but won't hit you over the head like some of the designs I have done.
