Color Swirl

August has been. . . well. . . August.  There has been a ton of things going on for me and I am hoping September will slow down a bit. . .

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.  I like to have several teal nail art designs for this month to honor my dear Aunt Lori who passed away in May of last year and to help raise awareness of the 5th deadliest cancer for women.  Pink isn't the only cancer women face.

So this is a design is a bit more subdued in the teal.  There are other colors in play here.  I thought a subtle from the vault design might be what I needed to get this started.  (My next design is a bit more in your face)

I used three colors all of which are from Julep; Lissa, Vicki, and Beverly.  These colors are all from their July Poolside Collection.

I used my favorite way to do water marbling for my accent nails.

This color scheme is so summery and fun with some teal pride!  I hope you like and you rock it yourself!

C'est La Vie

Another Sunday another stamping challenge from the Adventures In Stamping Facebook group.  Today's challenge is to combine another nail art technique with stamping.  I decided to do the water marble technique I used earlier this month.

I am not as happy with the marbling this time around and I blame China Glaze Pink-ie Promise.  It spread out really well, too well actually, and left some thin spots which tended to break.  Oh well, you win some, you loose some.

The other colors I used were China Glaze Life Is Rosy, Nina Ultra Pro French White, Julpep Andrea, and Gianna.  The stamps are Winstonia W114 and Bundle Monster BM-419.

From a distance and conceptually I like the design.  It is a twist on the Paris manicures people have been doing for a while, I just wish the marbling had turned out better, oh and that my thumb nail had royally been broken.  Ouch!

Go n-ithe an tochas thú

Today's Irish expletive means, "May you be eaten by the itch!"  I can see how that would be down right scary!

I love water marbling.  I mean honestly, the effect is gorgeous!  The only problem is the mess and my lack of skill at getting my finger in just the right spot.  So when I saw this tutorial on how to make water marble decal stickers by Sonal Sagaraya I HAD to give it a try!  And let me say, I am in love!  This was so much easier and less messy!  Also there is a lot less nail polish waste.

I used three colors for this design Julep Courtney, China Glaze Def Defying, and Holly-Day.  I also was able to get all 10 nail done with two stickers.  That really is less polish wasted!

Sorry about all the pictures.  What can I say, I am in love with this technique!  You will most assuredly be seeing more water marbling from me.  I think I may want to try a pattern soon. . .

31 Nail Art Challenge Take Two Day 26: Water Marbled

This is the last design I am doing before I leave on my trip and I have to say I have been dragging my feet to do this one.  I actually like water marble.  I find it a challenge, but an acceptable one, because even when there are mistakes it still looks incredible.  No one ever really seems to notice the flaws except me.  That being said, it is sooooo messy and time consuming.  I have used tape and I have used petroleum jelly.  Neither really seems to completely take away the mess.  I am fine with cleaning it up, but when you only have it on for a day or less, it hardly seems worth it.  But I did it, and I have to say I am impressed.  I really like how this turned out.  There are some flaws, but really, who does a water marble perfectly, other than

I used China Glaze For Audry, Kinetic Candy, Electric Beat, Liquid Leather, Sunshine Pop, and for the base color White-On-White.

TIHNAC: Day 2

Today We are supposed to post a water marble.  I am not that great at water marble.  In fact I did one version last night and then re-did it this afternoon.  So, I decided to add a little monster to it.  I am really happy with him and the water marble.  I love the colors and the simplicity of it.

I used China Glaze Recycle, Tree Hugger, Liquid Leather, and Finger Paints Paper Machè.  CG Recycle is used in the eye.  I know it is such a tiny amount, but I thought I should put it there.

A close up of my thumb.  I think this one looks the best.  The scar is homage to Herman Munster.  I don't think either of them could ever possibly be scary.

The previous version of water marbling.  This version also had China Glaze White on White and Zombie Zest.  I like the simpler version a bit better.  What do you think?
